This cake was so much fun, I love building lots of tiers for whimsy cakes. The background of each cake is buttercream and the overlays are fondant. The only challenge was matching the buttercream color to the fondant color.

This was for a small reception (just 30 servings) for a couple who wanted to share the hawaiian experience. Brushed buttercream and gum paste flowers

This was a copy of an invite for a baby shower. My DH thought it was cute how the mommy is barely able to hold on to the top of the cake!

This is the hot color combo this year for me. The teenagers love it. This was made for a double birthday party celebration. Its all fondant and different flavors of cake.

I have done so many of these, each one just turns out better each time! I use the Cut into the cake method with the SPS system. Very sturdy and turns out cool looking

This was such a fun cake to do! The bride wanted something pretty yet playfull. It was made up a bunch of different flavors and one fake tier. (can you guess which one is the fake one?) I did the pink by first rolling out the fondant, brushing it with the petal dust, then cutting out the triangles.

Another Topsy Turvy Cake, fondant and buttercream. The cake flavors were various flavors of pound cake (I found it easier to carve then regular cake)

This was such a fun cake, I am making a dummy of it as well. I took a cake from Collettes book and made it a little smaller and some small changes. Its hand painted fondant, and lots of whimsical roses (EASY to make!) and pearls, and bows Enjoy

Three tiered cake, I use the cut out method instead of the mound up buttercream method. The monkeys I cut out of gum paste and the hat is a plastic cup I cut and shaped and covered.

This bride wanted a picnic type fun cake, with sunflowers. It is a carrot cake (which was interesting to make into a whimsical cake..I ground the nuts up a little finer so I could cut easier) The sunflowers I used Nicholas Lodges new cutters..I highly recommend his Sunflower dvd. You will need about three days to make them (mainly for drying times) but they are VERY easy! The petal cutters are one piece now and the leaves use a silcon veiner. (its a kit you buy) I sprayed everything with edible shelac.

This was a fun cake to do, as it is made with Lemon Pound cake on top and chocolate chip cake on bottom, so oit was very strong!

What a fun design for a Birthday cake. I especially like the stars.
