So I decided to do something different than the white wedding style cake. I love my colour! Man those fondant roses take forever though! I had fun making this cake though! :)

So this was the present cake for Course 3. I was trying to be fast in putting the bow on in class, so it's messy. I did what I was told and put the piping gel around the bottom of the cake, but it made it so goopy on the bottom. I've done a fondant cake before, but this one just turned out messy. I think also I put too much buttercream icing on first, next time a thinner coat of icing.

This was my final cake for course 2. Tons of royal icing flowers, and I decided to do the butterfly instead of the birds. My colorflow was too thick, and that is why it's not smooth. And yes, my favorite colour is purple... :) I also painted dry pearl dust onto the flowers, I got this idea from someone else on here. Thanks for looking! :)

So we learned how to do violets last night with Royal Icing. I used Antonia74's RI because I wanted to try some on cookies I made. I enjoy using Royal Icing more than Buttercream for doing flowers. :) Thanks for looking!

So this was my final cake for Course 1, this design is from the course book. We had to do roses, which is tricky, and I still need lots of practise, but here you go. I made a vanilla cake, a cake mix plus a cake extender recipe, which had sour cream in it. I really liked the recipe as it gave it a nice flavour and made the cake denser, so this time it didn't just fall apart. My cake was so high that I noticed when putting the lid on it started squishing the roses, so I quickly took it off and took this picture with my phone. That is why the picture isn't as nice and the roses look a little squished... :/ I also did drop flowers on the border, which was fun, but I let them harden in the freezer... didn't cover them.. so they have that stale freezer taste, bleh, next time I'm going to cover them... hehe

I deleted the other picture I put up a few days ago because I took it at night with no flash, so it didn't catch the colours right at all. So I took a better pic and re-submitting. :)

Made my first cake Monday night, was fun! Used a cookie cutter for the flower impression, then piped and filled with stars. Also did big star border at bottom. Smoothed white icing with the foam roller method. The leaves I did on my own, we didn't learn that yet, so a bit .. er.. sloppy. Had fun though!
