This my cake from my the Wilton gumpaste and fondant class. It is chocolate cake with chocolate cream cheese filling and white chocolate SMBC frosting. I made the bow by extruding out black fondant out of a clay extruder and then gluing it onto the strips before making the bow. The piping is royal icing. I wanted to do an all over spiral effect. The entire cake and cake board has then been dusted with silver powder dust.

This is from my Wilton course II cake class, the last old one they are offering. I broke my bird putting on the cake. I press just a wee bit too hard on it. I did the all pansy cake because I had make more of those than any other flower. I sprinkled in a violet here and there. The birds are colored using the new Duff food coloring. I like the depth of the color.
The room was hot and just after I took the photo the frosting fell off in a section off the back. Overall I love doing the basket weave pattern. I want to make another cake so that I can do this technique again. Maybe for Memorial Day.....

This is the cake my daughter for her final cake in Course 1. The icing and flowers are all done with Wilton icing, which held up better in the heat of the class room than mine did. It is a chocolate cake with ganache and raspberry filling. My daughter has mastered the Wilton rose. I wish I could say the same. Also notice her restraint in the amount of leaves. The cake was just beautiful and went over well.

This is the final cake in course 1. What a lesson in disaster. First off I used Swiss Meringue Butter Cream frosting to ice the cake. It was my first time making the icing and it was not done correctly, it was almost soup and barely hung onto the cake. It was 90 degrees in the room causing even the Wilton icing flowers to wilt. I still have not mastered the art of making Wilton roses. These are the best I had. I also figured more leaves wouldn't hurt, so I added a lot of them. At least it tasted good. It was a scratch chocolate cake with a ganache and raspberry preserve filling.

This is my daughter's cake. The cake is chocolate cake. The icing is Wilton icing for frosting, rainbow, lettering and cllouds. As you can see we had fun with what we wanted to inscribe, being a test cake and all.

This is from my first Wilton cake class, as any you who have taken this class can tell. I wasn't going to write anything on the cake, so while I took a quick restroom break my daughter inscribed my most often used saying onto the cake. I didn't even notice the uneven frosting and the cake showing through until I posted the photo here. The icing is simple butter cream frosting. The rainbow is Wilton icing, as well as the clouds and writing. The cake was vanilla cake with the same filling as the icing.
