I won blue ribbon and best of show on this cake at the nc state fair this year. Bamboo covered. I use a bamboo mold, but still cut the individually into different lenghts. I painted the sections with petal dust mixed with everclear. I marked indents on some of the sections as they do look like that. I made gloriosa lillies, antheriums, purple lizianthus, and red ginger. I made about 5 different tropicla leaves. I used nick lodge's and scott woolley's tutorials. I love them both. I covered round disk of styrofoam and covered them in fondant, glued to sides of cake tiers and also anchored them down with sharpened skewers. for more durablilty. The flowers and leaves were heavy and this kept them from falling. enjoy.
