No Fail cookies with royal icing. My 8 y.o. daughter piped the accents.

I like plain old powdered sugar, milk and almond extract as an icing. The snowflake icing is too thin, obviously.

The toothpick arms were done by my daughter, age 8.

Note to self: make plenty of frosting in the right color, because it's hard to duplicate the exact shade when you run out!!! I was pretty happy with this brick red color. I added a tiny bit of blue to a very orangey-red. I need to practice piping to get straight lines. I also need more practice getting the consistency right for flooding.

A special egg-free sugar cookie recipe (my son has an allergy) and Toba Garrett's Glace' icing. My first time using rolling pin rings to roll the dough evenly, they work well!

We had leftover sugar cookies and I wanted to try the Toba Garrett Glace recipe. I want something shiny that hardens, but my son can't eat eggs, so royal icing is out. I was so glad to find this recipe. These bears were just done freehand with a spoon and toothpick. Not too pretty, but not too terrible for a first attempt. My kids picked the colors--very un-Christmasy!

Sure would love to see cookies organized and categorized like the cakes are! Would be so much easier to navigate through to find exactly what you are looking for! So many beautiful cookies with such talent - just as wonderful as the cakes. Think they deserve their very own spotlight as well!! :)
