Sugar cookies decorated with buttercream icing for my son's 1st birthday cake.

Made this for the April's Creative Cookie Club. The theme was books. It came from Sandra Boynton's Philidelphia Chickens book and the song/story is Please Can I Keep It? I used buttercream instead of royal this time to try something different and I think it turned out pretty good. I think I will try the buttercream cookies again.......my family would be happier as they prefer butter cream to royal.

Sugar cookies with royal icing. I think the leprechaun sliding down the shamrock looks like it joined the witness protection program, LOL....that is what happens when cookie decoratoring goes bad....the cookies try to go into hiding. The seesawing leprechauns look like the blues brothers, LOL. When you don't get the eyes right, just make them into sunglasses.....haha. It was an interesting night of decorating.

I made these for an auction to raise money for our church school. They were placed in a Longaberger basket and earned $140. I was happy with that. I was afraid they would only get $20 for them. Glad all that hard work paid off.

I fixed the cowboys arms....I think he looks a little less freaky now. I went ahead and entered him in the fair. This is a sugar cookie with royal icing. The stars and bandana details are drawn in with a toothpick and americolor gels. ( I don't have food writer pens yet! )

These were my first ever try at sugar cookies with icing. These were made before I knew to add meringue powder to my icing. The bowl is a cookie itself. I made another one just like it for a PTA auction only changed my bowl technique. I had 60 of these cookies in a chocolate cookie bowl. It went for 40 dollars. I don't think I got a digital picture of that one though.

I made this as an end of the year thank you and goodbye cookie for my daughter's teacher who is retiring. Her favorite children's book is Horton hatches an egg by doctor seuss. It is a large cookie. I am guessing close to 8 x 10 inches. Just plain sugar cookie with royal icing. I printed a picture of the cookie out as a keepsake with the words: Thank you for hatching a prepared third grader and put it on the back of the cookie board before I wrapped it in saran.

I made this as a thank you to my son's kindergarten teacher. It is a large cookie. Probably close to 8 x 10 but I didn't measure it. I think I will write something like : I am looking forward to the future thanks to you! " on her card.

I made this just for fun. As soon as I saw this picture online I had to make it into a cookie. It is just a regular sugar cookie with royal icing. I used a template to cut it out. I just love it.

I made these cookie for a friend as a thank you. I found the pictures off of the internet, printed them out the size I wanted, then layed them on cookie dough and cut around them. Time consuming but so cute.

Sure would love to see cookies organized and categorized like the cakes are! Would be so much easier to navigate through to find exactly what you are looking for! So many beautiful cookies with such talent - just as wonderful as the cakes. Think they deserve their very own spotlight as well!! :)
