Decided to try this out. Color of the center is green but picture does not really show real color. The outer petals were done using the same size oval shaped cutter but using different thickness of gumpaste so that I could thin it out in a tear drop shape & get larger petals. Really like how it come out but takes a long time to do petal by petal and to curl each one.

1st try at Parrot Tulip--Don't have the cutters so made a template but I think the petals need to be slightly smaller. Since this is just for a family cake, I'm going to use it anyway.

Not sure if it looks like a Chrysanthemum or more like a Dahlia.

My favorite way to make roses. No tools needed. I find that I get a much thinner petal this way.

Wanted to practice some roses since I've never been truly happy with previous results. Pretty happy with these. Thanks to Ciccio Cakes tutorial on facebook.

Getting ready for my mother-in-law’s 90th birthday next month. Flowers were done without cutters so it took a little bit longer. Used templates provided in the back of Alan Dunn’s Sugarcraft Flower Arranging. Only used cutters for the rose leaves. Used for edible varnish light corn syrup diluted with vodka.
Roses, Sandersonia, golden spider lilies, Geraldton waxplant flowers, bromeliad leaves

Not meant to be any flower in particular. Since I had some leftover pieces of different colored gum paste from previous flowers, I mixed them all together and just played around. This is the result.

Playing around with some leftover gum paste. Wanted to try another kind of Dahlia. Pretty happy with how it came out.

Used plastic cover to cut circle then cut petals freehand. Used a heart shaped cutter for leaves then cut it a little with exacto knife using a toothpick to vein.

Playing around with gum paste. Was trying for a sunflower but didn't quite achieve the look. Considering I didn't use cutters and didn't have a veiner (used wire) it could have been worse. Didn't really enjoy making this one. Next .......

This is supposed to be sacred lotus but I didn't dry the petals quite right. Oh well, it was just for practice & fun.

Made using the template in the Exotic Sugar Flowers for cakes by Alan Dunn. Although not as well done as his, I'm still pretty happy with the results. No idea what I'm going to do with it. I guess I will be baking someone a cake. lol tfl

Made this using a template to practice flower making & shading. Screwed up on how I wanted the petals to dry but still like the way it looks.
