My daughter turned one this weekend, and I had to do the giant cupcake tradition I've done with my other kid. The cupcake is a Coca-Cola Fudge cake with a fudge filling, and then covered in SMBC in a candy cupcake liner. The bottom is a vanilla bean cake with SMBC filling and covered in chocolate ganache. The bugs are all royal icing transfers, the pattern from a set of sippy cups my girls have. TFL!

Edited to include that the bottom cake was inspired by: http://cakecentral.com/gallery/2170758 :)

I have been dying to do a Phineas and Ferb cake for a while since it is one of my daughter's favorite shows. My friend's son wanted a P&F cake, so she let me run wild! The cake is devil's food with twinkie filling and buttercream. Fondant accents, and the characters are tinted candy melts piped onto wax paper like a transfer. I put sucker sticks on the characters so the kids at the party could each have their own. It was time consuming, but I was pleased with how it turned out, even if the humidity caused my buttercream to be tempermental and not cooperate.

My cousin called again and wanted a Superman themed cake for her son's first birthday. His nickname is Superdoodle, and I took it from there! This is my first time handpainting on fondant. It's a 2 tier chocolate cake with twinkie type filling, and buttercream icing covered in marshmallow fondant, all made from scratch. The bottom layer has a handpainted Metropolis skyline, and the a Superman cake with logo cascades down the back. Loved it!

My cousin called and asked me for a strawberry Minnie Mouse cake for my cousin's 2nd birthday. She gave no other direction than that, and left me completely on my own! This was my first time working with black homemade fondant, but it went well enough. I like making everything from scratch, so I always make my own marshmallow fondant. I tried piping the lettering onto the fondant ribbon, but it was hard to do, so I had to cleanup a couple of mishaps. For my first fondant birthday cake, I was pretty pleased!

Where is the search feature for the galleries now? Before we could put the theme and then all the relevant cakes appear.

I would also love to find out about this feature!!!!!!!!! :-)

I used the search on the top right of the page. Then the page give you some options like All/Product/Gallery Image. Select the one that you want and that's it!! =)
Yeloroz65 11/2/12 at 7:33am
That search option doesn't appear to allow you to search within a search like before. I'm trying to search in Children's Birthday cakes, but only for girls. Yesterday I tried searching for a girl's b-day cake several ways, and one of the searches brought up several adult/naughty theme cake. I think I just searched girl birthday cake. That search also brought up wedding cakes, and some random halloween cakes. Before you could do a general search, then there was an option to search within the results to narrow it down more. Does anyone know if that feature still exists?
