This cake matches the party plates used for his birthday party. The oval cake is covered in fondant and the sock monkey's body and head are cake covered in fondant. His hat, ears and arms are fondant. The coordinating smash cake is iced in buttercream with a fondant hat and #1 on top.

Half ball pan moon on top of an 8" round, covered in fondant. The red ribbon matched the candles that were later placed on the cake - they were stars with his age and were yellow blue, white and red. I also made coordinating cupcakes that had a blue swirl of buttercream and a yellow fondant star.

I made this for my niece's 10th birthday. She chose Twilight for her theme. I had planned to completely do the book covers as the panels, but we were without water for 5 days due to recent freezing. While our hotel had a kitchenette, it was small, no oven, and we had our pets in the room with us, so I opted not to work on any of the cake pieces during that time. I had to settle for just doing elements from each cover, but she loved it. Covered in fondant and decorations are out of gumpaste/fondant mix.

I made this for my niece last July. Covered in fondant and made it look like an etch a sketch. She loves the little green aliens, so I made a face out of fondant and put it on the corner of the etch a sketch.

This was for my friend's son's 1st birthday. She asked for a cake with the Caterpillar from Baby Einstein. The caterpillar was fondant covered cake and the bottom tier of the cake was covered in the fondant. The top tier was covered and filled with lots of buttercream, perfect for Ethan to smash and play in and get all over his mommy!

Bakugan and Cherries Cake I made for Free Cakes for Kids, San Antonio Chapter.

This was made for Simeon's 9th birthday. He requested a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting with cherries and Bakugan and/or a guitar. I purchased a toy pack to use for the decorations, which he gets to keep. The swirled disk under the dragon, the name banner, and the nine were all made from fondant. The bottom border is a ring of cherries. His mom said she couldn't wait for him to see it.

Present Themed 1st Birthday cupcakes and smash cake I made for Free Cakes for Kids, San Antonio Chapter.

This was made for Nicolas' 1st birthday. The cupcakes were vanilla with chocolate buttercream and fondant present cutouts. They have letters to spell his name or a 1. The smash cake was vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream and a fondant bow and ribbon. His parents were thrilled and grateful.

This was my third cake for Free Cakes for Kids, San Antonio. The mother requested this cake because she had gotten into some financial trouble during the summer and was trying to get caught up. Kaleb was really excited about the cars, especially the Mercedes. The fondant roads make his age, 11. I made the Hot Wheels logo out of fondant and my husband made the birthday boy's name in the Hot Wheel's font. We lined the roads and sides of cake with fondant flames and flame panals.

This was my second cake for our Free Cakes for Kids Chapter. It was for a 10 year old boy whose sister recently passed away, his mother was laid off and his father is in prison. It was an extremely busy week at work and we had to deliver this over an hour and a half away, but his big smile when he looked at it made the late night and long drive worth it! Cake is covered in buttercream with fondant Spongebob and balloons. Sky and grass are airbrushed.

This was for our older niece's birthday. It was a two layer 8" that I stacked and filled, cut at an angle, turning the top half so the cake angled down. This was my first time doing chocolate transfers. My first one looked smoother, but broke when I went to put it on the cake. This one was my "it's late and I really need to get this done so I can get a few hours of sleep before work tomorrow" attempt. Overall, I like the technique and just need to spend some more time practicing with it. The idea of the swirls on the cake came from the papertowel I squeezed the chocolate bags over to check flow before using them on the cake.

This cake drove me nuts - or maybe bananas! Itwas supposed to be a Beach Monkey themed cake, but my gumpaste monkey broke when I tried to attach the hands. After being reworked so many times and getting almost dry, poor monkey had to be laid to rest. The hut I was carving out of cake to put next to the tree crumbled apart. I had to remove the bottom half of the tree so it wouldn't topple over - it was really heavy. The cake was also supposed to be be covered in fondant, but after 1 batch of MFF and 2 batches of MMF would not work (bad weather last weekend - maybe that had something to do with it), it was covered in the thick buttercream I had made to dam the cakes. The surfboards, beach ball, tree, sand pail and shovel are gumpaste. The sand is crushed up Vanilla Wafers. Our store had the mini multi-color ones, so I used all of the light ones and tossed in a few dark ones. The cake itself was good. I used Macsmom Banana Split Cake recipe.

This fondant Hello Kitty cake was for one of our niece's birthday. The cutouts and lettering were also MMF. This banana cake was my third attempt using fondant. I'm finally starting to get the cakes smoother. One of these days they won't be lumpy at all, I hope:) The kitty is a fondant and gumpaste mix and dressed to match the party plates and napkins (I didn't like how the gumpaste monkey I made before had dried and looked cracked, so thought mixing it would help-it seemed to).

This was my first attempt at making a 3-D cake. It was made from several different sized rounds from a 16' to a 4". The family I made this for prefer cream cheese frosting over buttercream - I had a difficult time trying to get it smooth and working with it for the mane.

Where is the search feature for the galleries now? Before we could put the theme and then all the relevant cakes appear.
indianacakesbylisa 11/1/12 at 3:04pm
I would also love to find out about this feature!!!!!!!!! :-)
Sweet_Cake 11/1/12 at 4:04pm
I used the search on the top right of the page. Then the page give you some options like All/Product/Gallery Image. Select the one that you want and that's it!! =)
Yeloroz65 11/2/12 at 7:33am
That search option doesn't appear to allow you to search within a search like before. I'm trying to search in Children's Birthday cakes, but only for girls. Yesterday I tried searching for a girl's b-day cake several ways, and one of the searches brought up several adult/naughty theme cake. I think I just searched girl birthday cake. That search also brought up wedding cakes, and some random halloween cakes. Before you could do a general search, then there was an option to search within the results to narrow it down more. Does anyone know if that feature still exists?
