Inspired by all the gumball machine cakes here at cake central. I used a natural food coloring for the first time for the orange (chefmaster natural gel color). I also flavored the fondant with gumball flavor (Loranne).

For my 3 y/o daughter. I forgot to use the luster spray when I took the picture so the picture from the party is the cake with a pearl luster on it!

Cake for my son's fifth birthday. I never completely finished the cake. I was supposed to paint/color the bricks but after keeping the cake in the fridge, it never fully dried so the bricks and the door were left unpainted. Sidewalks and board are fondant with tylose powder. Tree is floral wires covered with modeling chocolate.
It's supposed to be a Spiderman scene where the Sandman has been and destroyed the car and left traces of himself. Spiderman on the roof of building is a candle.
Sorry for the background.

This is the topper for a Kung Fu Panda Cake (already posted, he is standing on a mountain). It is made with gum paste and has a bamboo skewer inside plus a wire for the arm sticking out and a toothpick for the head. I used white gum paste and hand painted it when dried.

Cake with the Kung Fu Panda Theme for an 8 year old boy. 10 inch square cake (chocolate w. choc. bc). Background landscape is painted with food color (and vodka). The images on the sides are cut out from gum paste and painted before attached. Mountain is made of rice krispy treats and a small bit of styrofoam on the very top. Panda is made from gum paste. I have never made figures before so I was worried about the construction of the cake. At first, when I attached the panda to the mountain I only had RKT inside and it could not hold the weight of the panda. So I added some styrofoam and that did the trick. It held up really well and did not move at all during the party.

This cake was for my son's birthday. The octopus is made with 50/50 gp + fondant. When I made the front right arm I wrapped the arm around a skewer. Right before the party, I added a skewer with a flag saying Happy Birthday but before I could take a picture, a girl had poked a hole on the side of the cake so I skipped it. My sons love ocean animals so this was fun to make because it made them happy. I put two scuba divers on the side to be the birthday boy and his older brother. Sea shells, stars and crabs are either gum paste or fondant. Swim mask on scuba divers is poured sugar.

Where is the search feature for the galleries now? Before we could put the theme and then all the relevant cakes appear.
indianacakesbylisa 11/1/12 at 3:04pm
I would also love to find out about this feature!!!!!!!!! :-)

I used the search on the top right of the page. Then the page give you some options like All/Product/Gallery Image. Select the one that you want and that's it!! =)
Yeloroz65 11/2/12 at 7:33am
That search option doesn't appear to allow you to search within a search like before. I'm trying to search in Children's Birthday cakes, but only for girls. Yesterday I tried searching for a girl's b-day cake several ways, and one of the searches brought up several adult/naughty theme cake. I think I just searched girl birthday cake. That search also brought up wedding cakes, and some random halloween cakes. Before you could do a general search, then there was an option to search within the results to narrow it down more. Does anyone know if that feature still exists?
