We asked them to make it big enough for him to sit in. We never actually sat him in it but it was just his size. Some of the guests didn't realize it was a cake until it was time to sing Happy Birthday and cut the cake so someone actually cracked it a little by trying to pick up the hat which actually was separate and removable from the seat
