With the ideas from the forum (Thank you all for helping! I came up with this cupcake cake for my daughter's field trip to a Fire Station.  It was not what I had envisioned it to be, but the children loved it and it made them happy.

Pirate ship cake I made for my son's birthday party.  Each wooden plank is individualy cut and placed.  LOTS of work but worth it when I saw the look on his face!  The cake is marble with buttercream in between the layers.  The 'wood' is MMF.  Thanks...

I made this cake for my daughter's PreK class when they were studying space. I used a round pan and a bowl for the dome. The "craters" are Necco wafers. The cake is chocolate and I purposely had crumbs in the icing.

practicing at home. first lesson that red and black are tough colors to achieve when coloring buttercream. this cake sat at home for the longest time. nobody wanted to eat it. icing's too sweet then cake got dry.
