I made my first christmas (chocolate) cake my child's day care centre as a 'surprise' christmas/thank you' gift The director was so surprised to see it and she didn't really want the cake to be cut! The centre's logo has a rainbow (with these 3 colours) and 5 cartoon 'stick' children sitting on the rainbow. So, I used this as the main focus of the cake and made the children 'multi-racial' since it's a very multicultural day care :-) It's also has a Australian christmas theme (hence santa on a sufrboard)

As requested, here is a closer view of the little penguins and their near decorating mishap. ;) Trees are candy clay with confectioner sugar snow. Penguins are royal icing. Strings of lights are extruded candy clay with alternating royal icing and piping gel lights.

These little guys may be sitting on a piece of messy parchment paper right now, but once they dry, they're going to be the stars of my family's Thanksgiving dessert later this week....and they may show up on a few cupcakes too. :) They are made out of royal icing.

Thanks everyone for such nice comments about my little penguins. Here are a few of them in their new home. :) ...and I haven't forgot all of you that have asked me how I made them, I've just been a little busy with the holidays. I'll be getting those directions out to you.

The poinsettias and roses are gumpaste. I used JEM cutters and Marcela Sanchez's gumpaste, both purchased from Global Sugar Art.

This is a cake I did for a contest at work. It's chocolate cake with peppermint BC and the filling is peppermint BC with crushed candy canes mixed into it. I was totally inspired by Thanh Thanh. I used cake sparkles on the cake before freehanding the leaves, then I brushed on shimmer dust to the berries and the border. Any comments welcome.

This was a rush job for my hubby's office party. Not my best work, the first time I've ever had so many issues with my fondant bow!
The design for the cake came from a background on Microsoft Word! The cake is a WASC with Raspberry filling and buttercream covered in MMF. The cupcakes are devil's food with buttercream and RI snowflakes (I saw this design on CC it was a reproduction as well- sorry I can't give credit to the original designer, cause I don't know). TFL

10in. & 8in. cakes iced in BC. Decorations are made from fondant. The theme was "While visions of sugar plums danced in their heads". The kids were very happy with the cake, and what a gift to me... to see the joy on their faces and smiles in their eyes. There is a close up of the topper in my photos. Many "Thanks" to those who posted photos of their cakes, that gave me inspiration for this cake.TFL. Merry Christmas & God Bless

Christmas tree is cake covered in bc with coconut stirred in for texture and taste. Penguins are fondant, as are Santa's feet sticking out of the chimney, his sack, hat , the chimney itself and star on tree. Cake hills and igloo are covered in fondant as well. Can you tell that one penguin is fishing and one is sticking his head in for the fish? I had a lot of fun with this one. My first Christmas cake!
