Submitted as an illustration of how bright and clear an edible image can be. This was done for the ushers at the performing arts venue where I work. Tonight we are having Judy Collins. Sometimes I use photos of the artist of the evening, but her...

Just a little birthday cake for a coworker who loves flowers. It's a simple edible image on all five surfaces, made from a watercolor painting. Little bits of pearls at the corners. I tried several different ways to add "Happy Birthday...

Just a little family celebration cake - for the visit of my nieces from the West coast. The girls are a "little bit country" and a lot Tomboy...hence the lack of a "girlie" touch. I liked it better before I added the streamers. ...

After participating in a discussion about this color scheme, I wanted to see how it would look. I like it...but my writing and roses still suck! This was my first attempt at cornelli lace, and while it's semi-OK...it's kinda in the same boat as my...

I was testing a new white cake recipe and, of course, had to decorate it, too. I wanted to try chocolate curls for this non-occasion cake. Got nothing but chocolate flakes. But, it's OK. They taste good! :) Dots are spots of candy melts, done on...

I wanted to try Hockeymom's method of lettering. (Piping over an edible image.) It's definitely an improvement for me...but I need lots more practice. I decided toapply the same technique to the main image. There are times I want something more...

Forgive if this is posted twice. This is the period of time when the system is acting wonky. I needed a cake to take to a volunteer event and threw this one together but made the icing too soft. The border kept sliding down. The corners were...

This was a cake for us to eat. But, who needs a plain cake, right? So....it's coffee-flavored cake, made with the standard extended cake mix with instant coffee dissolved in the water....filled with cinnamon-laced whipped buttercream. Iced in...

This is the two-step buttercream someone brought over from the Wilton site. Lovely to work with and not very sweet. The design was transferred over via a buttercream outline, just like a piping gel transfer, but I was running out of gel and wasn't...

This is buttercream with gumpaste morning glories and picket fence. Not exactly in scale, but they work for me. :) I tried cutting the sweetness of my favorite buttercream by adding flour. That made it impossible to smooth. I finally gave up....

After a long day in the kitchen (and after throwing away a cake that was so inedible it made my disposal growl), I was getting tired, and this showed. I've never been able to do drop flowers very well. 20 years away from it didn't improve my skills...

I had used wafer paper previously, but this was my first frosting sheet. Loved the outcome. It's tempting to do lots of this. :)

This is an orange cake frosted with ivory champagne-flavored buttercream. "Bubbles " were piped on the sides with uncolored piping gel. I wanted a simple look for this non-occasion cake. It might be cool to write a message in gel on the...

This is a replacement chart. I made some serious typos on the first - and left out some things that people asked me for. If you copied the first one, throw it away!!! Use this one instead. Sorry about that!

I wanted to see what all the hub-bub was about IMBC. It made up just fine for me...none of the problems others have complained about. And it definitely IS delicious. I also needed practice in piping borders. UGH. I need LOTS of practice. I...

This is actually my SECOND FBCT. The first one didn't work because I didn't listen to the advice from the forums and tried a frosting with 100% Crisco. :(

MMF and Wilton gumpaste. Duncan Hines doctored batter with lemon pudding and lemon zest. Used the crusting buttercream with flour. Filled with raspberry mouse filling from the recipe stash. Had a LOT of fun doing this!
