This fun cake was for a rehersal dinner. The bride didn't care what it looked like as long as her colors (blue, green, purple) were incorporated into it. I saw a beautiful cake a friend of mine had photographed for a wedding in AK, and used it as inspiration. Bottom tier is chocolate covered strawberry, middle tier was turtle, and top was chocolate covered strawberries with pecans. This is the first cake I covered with ganache, and I really enjoyed working with it. I had some trouble with my fondant though, so I'm not as thrilled with the outcome of this cake as I hoped I would be. Decorations are fondant (royal icing piped onto birds' bodies) and flowers are gumpaste.
