Each year, I make anywhere from six to eight of these cottages for family and friends.  They are designed to "be eaten."  No two are ever the same.  I also make a "show" house for my own family.  I am almost finished with it!  Slow going this year......

Two more of the cottages I make as gifts.  Each one, though same pattern, turns out different.  On the left, I installed a fireplace which is slightly visible in the picture.  The right one lights up as well and is really cute at night.

I make these smaller houses in the more traditional style (to give as gifts) so the children can pick the candy off and eat it.  100% edible gingerbread construction.
