This is the gingerbread house I made for this year's contest. I still don't know who won yet. I should find out today. Votes haven't been counted yet. It took about 50 hours and is 40 inches tall and 2 1/2 ft. wide. Windows are melted Jolly Ranchers. Entirely edible

This was for a local gingerbread house contest. I won first place. It was my first time building a gingerbread house, so I was really surprised I won. The house is all gingerbread and the decorations are all royal icing and gumpaste. The only non-edible thing is the cotton smoke int he chimney--I planned on using cotton candy, but I could only find pink and blue in the store. I wanted to use all hand-made decorations and no commercial candy, so at least I accomplished my goal (minus the cotton!).
