I did this for my town's annual Gingerbread contest, in conjuction with a historical restoration of the Abigail Adams Birthplace, circa 1685, located in Weymouth, MA. Won 1st place. Probably not very impressive to those who don't know the real house, but I worked hard to get it to look exactly like the real thing. 100% edible. House is gingerbread with Royal Icing siding (piped with a petal tip). Roof is gum paste shingles hand-painted to look weathered (you can't tell in this pic). Windows are leaf gelatin. Walkway is Trident gum "bricks."

For the Boston Christmas Festival 2012. House is Gingerbread with Gum Paste and candy accents. Lighthouse is Gingerbread with royal icing imprinted with brick design (there is a cardboard tube for support inside). Top of Lighthouse is gum paste, spaghetti rail fence and Isomalt windows. Rocky shoreline is rice krispies covered with gum paste rocks. water is royal icing "paint," and sand is cookie crumbs. Boat and buoys are gum paste. Tree in window is Royal icing (window itself is leaf gelatin). This house also lights up.

Winner of two local gingerbread contests (though honestly, there wasn't heavy competition!). Everything edible except the lights inside. Front door and Cakes in the window are made from Gum Paste, all other details are Royal Icing, candy, or gingerbread.
