I use a mold for the gelatin wings. They are pretty simple to do if you have a mold. It comes with instructions.

This is a wedding cake for a couple having their wedding at a zoo. They chose to have fairy resemble the bride. They wanted the fairy to be kissing the dragon and they wanted a red/maroon dragon because that is what matched their wedding colors and the bride's gown. The fairy is actually wearing the bride's gown.
The fairy is made of gumpaste with gelatin wings and the dragon is made of modeling chocolate with a rice crispy center.
