This is the first cake I have decorated on my own. It didn't start out that way. I was going to make a cake from a Wilton book, but didn't have the correct tip. I thought I was improvising with tip 2D, but the flowers were larger than needed. I made the flowers two days before and let them air dry. They are made out of the wilton icing recipe. When it came time to put them on the cake I just went with what popped in my head. The cake is chocolate cake with ganache and raspberry filling. The frosting is white chocolate butter cream frosting and the pink piping is raspberry white chocolate butter cream frosting. The flowers are attached with the raspberry icing. My daughter said I should have used the white to blend it in, but my son liked getting that little bite of the raspberry frosting.

Lessons learned: 1. The cake is not centered on the cake board, must check that next time. 2. The flowers were put on free hand. You can tell because they are all not centered so exactly. 3. Use the same color frosting to attach the flowers. My daughter is right. 4. Cake decorating is a lot of fun. 5. I have come a long way since the cake I made in November where I carved in Happy Birthday with a toothpick. I'm surprised it has been highlighted on CakeWrecks yet.
