A Santa-themed cake for a little Southern California girl's December birthday. Santa is made of gumpaste and hot glue. Yes, I said hot glue; he broke just before I put him on the cake!! The cake is iced in IMBC and smoothed using Antonia74's fabulous smoothing tips; this is the first time I have EVER gotten IMBC this smooth. How ironic that I had to "roughen up" the top to make waves. The sand is made of cake crumbs and sugar, and all other details are fondant or gumpaste.

Just a quickie cake I made at my MIL's the day before Christmas. I had zero cake decorating supplies, not even shortening! (thanks to CCers who assured me I could make MMF w/o it) and only liquid food coloring so I wanted to keep colors to a minimum. I just made Aine2's little snowman and tree, love that tutorial! Of course being made of MMF the snowman sagged immediately, but I still thought it looked more Christmasy than an undecorated cake. Hazelnut cake w/chocolate ganache bc, covered in MMF.

I was just going to ice this cake in chocolate ganache to take to a holiday party. Next thing I know I was rolling out fondant! Cake is choc. fudge brownie cake w/ whipped ganache frosting. All decorations are MMF. The sparkle (including on the tree) all comes from super pearl luster dust. The decorations were inspired by holiday cakes from JaneK and simply-cakes.
