This is a fabulous, flawless cake. You've inspired me to make a mini version with chocolate mint cake.

This square stacked cake was covered in mint green fondant, circled in brown bands, and finished with tiny pale pink polka dots. The tiers were carrot cake/cream cheese, german chocolate/coconut pecan, and vanilla/raspberry with filling. I fashioned my own cutters to make the Lily of the Incas gum paste flowers to match the brides bouquet. The "K" is half gumpaste and half fondant and painted with iridescent dust that shimmered and echoed the green and brown tones of the cake.

Initial topper was made of 50/50 gumpaste and fondant. I hand shaped it, added floral wire legs, and dried it on a piece of heavy plastic in my dehydrator. After it was dry, I painted it with Olive irredessant shimmer dust and it picked up the cake colors beautifully. Thanks to the tips for making initial toppers from Rebecca Sutterby, it came out great and the couple LOVED it.

This is a collage of the my gumpaste flowers with the actual flower picture sent to me by the bride. My flower experience was one class on tropical flowers with Nicholas Lodge which was amazing. It gave me the confidence to say "I can do that!" I didn't have cutters for this flower but no worries. I shaped my own with fine needle nose pliers from inexpensive, plain round metal cutters. Each flower consisted of 13-14 seperate hand painted parts. I was really proud of the final result and how closely they resembled the real ones.
