This is an edible book contest entry my daughter and I worked on together. The picture book we used is "Hedgie's Surprise" by Jan Brett. The cake shows Hedgie sitting on a tomato bucket from the story. Beneath him are all of the "surprises" he leaves for the Tomten who has been stealing Henny's eggs (acorn, mushroom, strawberry, potato, and finally Hedgie himself rolled into a ball). In the opening of the basket you can see Henny's eggs sticking out of the nest where Hedgie has been hiding them.
