Coors light groom's cake with peanut border. Mostly to hide the HORRIBLE job I did covering a rectangular cake. It's a good thing I don't charge money!

My mom and I made these cakes for her friend's daughter. They had hundreds of extra servings of cake, but we couldn't talk them down. If it could go wrong, it did go wrong with these monsters, but by going with plan B and sometimes plan C, we managed to pull it together. Glad to be done with that favor! Chocolate cake, filled and covered with chocolate ganache and chocolate fondant. Gumpaste figures. Basketball on top made with a sports ball pan, fondant strips, and dots of buttercream.

I made this cake for my brother in law and his bride (whom we had decided was family years ago). Steve is a drummer in a 3 person up-and-coming band in San Francisco, hence the drum theme. Gumpaste figures, gumpaste drum, spaghetti supports. All fondant details on the cake.

My first attempt using rolled buttercream. Fussy, fussy stuff! I followed every bit of advice and tip and trick, and it still ripped under its own weight as I tried to smooth it on the cake. But it does burnish to a nice gloss, and it tastes like tootsie rolls.
