Thank you so very much! I actually LOVE my recipe... but I will be trying that one posted about just because I can't resist :) They were baked the day before... They didn't sit past cooling then icing and even still today the cake scraps I have taste perfect. I was just so very floored that I didn't even know how to react!
I did a candy land themed cake for a birthday yesterday. It was the exact same cake I've made for 2 years now, and the leveled pieces were perfect... This is also the same cake I did a tasting on 4 weeks ago for this persons sisters wedding that is in less than 2 weeks. I received a message this morning they wanted to cancel because the cake was dry. I don't know WHAT to do.   1) my contract says (that they signed) no refunds on any cancellations w/in 45 days. Their...
How do I make a long rope of fondant? I need to do a peppermint swirl rope border affect for a cake and I'm not sure how I'd get a nice long even width piece....
That does seem odd to me. I've ordered from them many times and always receive my stuff promptly. Definitely call them... They have an 800 number right on the top of their site. :)
Thank you! I did include the Oreos... Anyone have any guesses in what the flowers all are? Roses for sure, what about the big open ones? Magnolias??
Thank you so much!! The more I think about it I think individual planks is the way to go... I don't have to worry about them stretching while putting them on as much as I do if it's a whole piece wrapped around.   I'm super excited about this cake. I'm working up my quote right now and really hoping to get this opportunity I think it's a unique cake and would be a lot of fun to do. :)
I received an inquiry for a wedding cake like this - http://pinterest.com/pin/220324606743584415/ I have a few questions if anyone is so inclined to give me a hand... :)   1) I'm a little iffy on creating the knotty wood look... I've done it before w/ a gumpaste plaque... but that was a 4X6 rectangle... this is a whole cake...I'm thinking score it and paint in the knots?? would it be better to airbrush this? I don't have one yet, but am getting one at the end of...
Thank you both so much - This is the cake she wants http://www.bridepop.com/wedding-burlap/a-touch-of-burlap/attachment/mississippi-wedding-cake-burlap-buttercream/ I think we're trying to keep it round. But if she doesn't want to go to 4 tiers I will talk to her about a square bottom to get the amount she wants.
I've been asked to do my very first wedding cake. It's a very simple design, so that doesn't worry me... what does worry me is that she's asking for a 3 tier cake for between 100-150 people. I can do it for 100 easily... trying to do a 3 -tier for 150 isn't flowing as well... it feels to me like the layers are going to look off. If you were doing this cake what size tiers would you be using. They are also only keeping 1/4 of the top layer to share for their anniversary.
I'm so frustrated. 2 of the last 3 cakes I've baked have NOT baked properly. They've looked done. Tested done but aren't done!   On one my husband was in charge so that could have been part of the problem. But the second the center was done. but the outside bottom of the layer was still under cooked. How do I fix this? I have a thermometer in my oven. I've moved it around... it seems like the temp is the same everywhere. I've got three 4 cakes to do in the next 10...
