I've had fairly good luck with carving most varieties, however be sure to hand mix with a whisk as opposed to putting in your electronic mixer, or hand mixer. I have friends that only use pound cake variations when carving.

Hello! According to this site (http://www.baking911.com/cakes/numberofservings_guide.htm) each tier should be 4". From what I am learning in class that seems to be the standard. HTHs

I covered my cakes in plain white fondant, however have decided that I wanted one to be blue. Once its on the cake can you color it? My thought was to 'paint' it. Please HELP
