Thanks folks, I think I'll go with either Royal or choc.  I'm unable to apply them at the venue as the bride is transporting the cake to that good old place in Gretna Green where we English folk go to elope!  Thanks for great advice anyhow, I would never have thought buttercream would hold them in place, so that;s a lesson learnt.
Hi can anyone advise how the best way to attach flowers, similar to the blossom ones in this photo?  PS once on the cake, they will be getting transported by car 100+ miles, so they need to be solid - Thanks   http://www.maisiefantaisie.co.uk/simple-wedding-cake.html
Thanks folks, I didn't receive the last two answers until today, so I went with BikerMom's advice and it worked a treat - so Thanks, but all advice is good to know for future ref

Thanks so much for the advice.   For future reference, I take it, it's best to stick the whole figure together before letting it dry out?
Hi I made a gymnast out of MMP, however, I think I've messed up.  I let the arms, legs & body completely dry out before attempting to stick them together and now I'm struggling.  My reason for doing this, was I wanted to paint a sparkly 'leotard' onto the body and by this time I'd made the limbs, so I wanted this to dry completely so I didn't spread the red sparkle over the limbs.  Now I cannot get the limbs to stick to the body using edible glue.  Does anyone have any...
Hi thanks to you both for your answers. I must say they are all fab guitar cakes, I doubt mine will turn out as good, but I can live in hope!I'm thinking I may just use something inedible for the strings, but putting something like Krispy treats (the handle will be made from this) at the base of the handle so I can put whatever I use in and hopefully have it held in place well without tearing the fondant.I think everyone seems to have the same problem with silver, I've...
Hi. I've been asked to make this for a 50th birthday. Can anyone advise how best to get the colour sort of fading out into the middle? I don't have an air brush. Also what would be best to use as the strings? And lastly, is there any way to get the metallics shining brightly silver? I have the silver dust which I mix with alcohol, but I find it's quite dull and tends come off quite easily once it...
Thanks for your replies. I zapped it in large chunks (using a couple of drops of water) then mixed it with a small amount of fondant, and it's worked out great, nice & pliable. It has dried out very quickly though once I've made the models, but at least its working! Thanks again folks
I made some a while ago and kept it in an airtight container - it's now totally solid, and just crumbles when I try to work with it. Does anyone have any tips on reviving it? I only have today to make models for tomorrow, and no time to make a fresh batch or buy the ready made stuff. Could I microwave it & add water maybe? Thanks in advance x
