I own one, and have the same gag response as above. What I've found, though, is that if people don't know how it's done they think these little poo-balls are wonderful.
1 cake mix + 1 can of Sprite or other soda at room temp. Mix on lowest speed. Bake at 325 until toothpick comes out clean (should be about the same as your normal baking time)

If you moved it to the drum right after icing, it should have been fine. Do you let your cake settle after torting and filling? Every time I try to rush it and skip that step I end up with problems -- even if I've compressed the cake.
