I am to make a cake and I need some help as to how to make autmn leaves for it. I have seen some very cute pictures with leaves on them. I have found that you can make them from gumpaste or fondant, but I don't even know where to start. Is there a template some where? Can someone help??Kel
Hello,I have been asked to make a German Chocolate cake. I have never done a cake like this before. She wants it done in a 13X9 pan. How would I go about doing this? Do I ice the sides and the top of the cake with the coconut/pecan frosting? She would also like me to write a message on the cake - will it taste funny if I use buttercream frosting to do that? Any suggestions would be very helpful. I guess I am so use to making a cake that uses buttercream frosting all over...
I usually charge a flat fee for my party cakes that is why I am having a hard time deciding what to charge her. Thanks for your replies.
Ok, I have been doing cakes for a little while, but have never been asked to do a wedding cake...until now. I need some advice as to how much to charge this person. The lady would like a 3 tier square cake 6", 10" & 14". She is serving about 300 and so I would a couple of sheet cakes also. Is there anyone who could...

Ameena,Thanks for the advice! The teacher called me after they were done and said that the amount that I made was very close. She said for future reference that I should make 2 double batches and then they would have enough. Oh, well we can always try again.Kelly
Hi,I am in a panic; I had to make royal frosting for my daughterÂ’s class for their gingerbread houses. There are 48 kids and they already have graham crackers hot glued to the milk carton so all the kids have to do is add the roof with frosting and the decorations. I made a double batch and a single batch of frosting. Do you think that is enough? When I brought it to the school the teacher asked if it would be enough. I was nervous about it until then. I thought that it...
My daughterÂ’s 1st grade teacher called and asked me for some advice on making their gingerbread houses. To save time they are just using graham crackers and a milk carton for a support. She said in the past they have used canned frosting and that they have not had luck with them staying together. What is your suggestion on a frosting for them to use that is inexpensive, but edible (kids always like to lick their fingers). I thought of the royal icing, but it is for kids...
