The only time I've made a cake like this was for 6 children. I made a 12" square & marked the 6 portions out like a jigsaw. I then put each child's design on the 'jigsaw pieces'.

I agree, if you're in the uk you'd do well to invest in invicta tins. They are a good heavy duty tin & treated well they will last a life time. Design-a-cake.co.uk are a good site that stocks them. Beware of cheap imitations on places...

So cute. He doesn't have eyebrows was the first thing that struck me. I know a lot of people don't put them on but from personal experience it can make all the difference. Maybe that will balance out the size that others have mentioned....

They look like ribbon to me. The plastic kind you wrap gifts with. Looks like it's been split to get it fine & that would cause it to curl that way. The only other thing I've used that looks similar is artificial bear grass.
