How Do I Attach...?

I am making a cherry blossom branch with this picture as inspiration.

It looks like I can use a flower pick, and make a 90 degree bend in my branch, to attach it to the top tier.  Does that seem right?  Or maybe a hollow column, which would go deeper and counterbalance the branch better?

TIA for any suggestions!

AI'd use a bubble tea straw stuffed with fondant or something if the branch is not big enough to fit snugly. But yeah, your idea is fine.

Thanks!  I was trying to think how round my branch might be at that end.  A bubble straw sounds good!
