A

I have been asked to cover a cake with "sparkling sugar".  They want buttercream icing.  What would be the easiest way to do this?  Any and all suggestion appreciated. Thanks!

I recently made my niece this baby shower cake.  I sprayed the buttercream sides with silver color, then slightly (and carefully) tilted the cake and used my gloved hand to press the glitter into the buttercream.  I'm sure there's probably an easier way....* Baby shower cake for a glitter loving girl!

Yeah what she ^^^ said :)

Basically that's how most bakeries do jimmies &/or sprinkles.

Hold the cake at an angle over a cookie sheet (or other 'catcher') and grab up a handlfull of the sugar, slapping it against the 'wet' b'cream.   If the icing has already dried, very lightly spray it w/water so the sugar will stick.

Another method, depending upon your final look - torte and fill, freeze solid, then quickly ice sides and roll in sugar (or jimmies). Press down while rolling.
