AHi! I need to make a barbie dress cake for 15ppl but i dont have the wilton cake pan, so I'm going to use round pans and carve it. How big do the layers need to be for 15 servings, in your opinion?
Thank you!
It's hardly worth the effort to make a cake that small :(
two 8"x2" round layers - even carved down into the shape needed will serve about 20.
I've seen ppl use a bundt cake pan for a doll dress and I think you add a matching round at the bottom to add height.
AI have used a 2 layer 8" round, and a matching diameter pyrex bowl for a barbie cake.... not sure that a carved 2 layer 8" round would be proportionate. If a customer needs x amount of servings, but I am unable to realistically make the cake for that exact amount without it looking silly, I adjust the serving size and price accordingly. If you are carving 8" rounds, I would do at least 3 to get the proper height.
AI think I'm gonna bake 3 layers: 8", 7" and 6" and carve.. Hope to get the high I need!!
