In my area, almost every wedding reception and party venue (country clubs, hotels, catering facilities, etc...) have a list of preferred bakeries/residential cake decorators that clients must use for any event at that location.  I'm curious.  How does one go about getting on these preferred vendor lists?  Those of you with this status, can you talk about your experiences? :)  thanks!

AI just asked and we set up a meeting, I met with the hotel and now am on their list. I asume all places aren't so easy but that's been my experience.

Networking with other vendors so that they get to know you is the best way to get on those lists. If there's a wedding business association in your area join it, if there are networking groups go to them. Call venues to introduce yourself if you're delivering a cake there.

AI am looking into that myself. I was thinking of baking a nice 6" round and asking for a meeting.
