I was asked to do a round and hexagon cake for a wedding, and I'm having trouble with the dimensions to make it look proportionate.
The bride wants a 5 tier cake starting with round.

I have 15, 12, 9, and 6 in hexagon pans. I was thinking start with 16 round, 15 hex, 12 round, 9 hex, 6 round. Would that look right?

What I would do, if you have all the right sized pans, is stack the pans, in the same way you want the cake. I stack 2 same sized pans (open sides together) as a "tier", then stack the tiers. That way you can play around with sizes and configuration.

ETA: How many servings are needed? That will definitely influence pan sizes.

It really doesn't matter if I go over the serving amount. It is for a friend and it is her wedding gift, so I want it to be nice for her. I just needed assurance that it would look alright if I used the sizes that I was thinking of using.

Found a 14 in hex pan online and ordered it. So now the sizes are 16,14,12,9,6 which I think works better than the 15 in hex.

Charlotte, find a baker your friends have liked immediately and talk to them about what they can do. You are cutting it REALLY close!
