A co-worker of my husband's wants me to make him a pineapple upside down cake with no decorations just the cake. I think he wants a 9 by 13 size I think. I have never sold just a cake so I was wondering what I should charge? Does anybody have any sugestions?

Depends on where you are at...I would charge no less than $25.00. I charge $35.00 for a decorated cake of the same size.

I agree, I would charge $20-$25. Ingredients x2 + minimum 1 hour of time.

I personally would sell it for about $20. Figure up your ingredient costs and multiply it by 3.

is there a rule of thumb on how to charge for a cake. some say 2 times cost of ingredients and others say 3 times. does this include anything other than the ingredients that go into the cake? thanks

Thanks everyone. I was thinking about 20 to 25 dollars too. Even though I don't have much labor involved as far as decorating, it is a homemade from scratch cake that will hopefully be better than what you can get at the grocery store. Thanks everyone.
