Pleated Mother's Day
This cake is the first one I have been able to do in a long time. I entered it into the Sugar Wonders Cake Show in The Colony, TX. I got an honorable mention. It's not my best work, but I liked it. The flowers are gumpaste. The roses are free-hand and straight out of a rose book. This cake went through a LOT of design changes before it was finished. :)

Courtship
This is the cake I entered in the 2008 Wedding Cake competition in Tulsa, OK. I got a bronze, which is pretty good considering how many re-designs I had to do and did the majority of the work in four days. It's chocolate fondant, with bamboo board and vase, red gumpaste roses and apple blossoms. I also did a re-make of the photo to get rid of the background. Sorry for losing the nice comments.

Japanese Fan
The entire fan is gumpaste. The blades were made separately and then a large piece of gumpaste was attached to the front and back to give it a fabric affect. The branches were painted with airbrush colors and then the flowers were added. This was sitting next to the Courtship cake. From top to bottom, the symbols mean LOVE, HARMONY, HONOR

Christmas Party Barn
This was the barn I made for American Cake Decorating Magazine. It was my firs article and it was in the Dec., 2007 issue. Everything is edible. There are too many techniques to list here. The photo was taken by TooMuchCake's son. He did a great job. I was very honored and excited to be asked to an article for ACD.

Park Bench
Gumpaste flowers with hand painted "impressionist" flowers, pastillage bench, miniature rose on rice noodle stem. All the flowers were placed on the cake while still soft to give them a more natural look. I entered the show under my middle and maiden name just for fun. I really didn't expect to win grand prize. It was fun having an alter ego though. :)

Haunted Barn
This gingerbread piece was made for a competition in Elk City, OK. I won 1st place there, at the State Fair, and at the OSSAS. It is covered with pastillage and painted with powdered food color mixed with grain alcohol. It's one of my favorite pieces. It was falling to pieces in Tulsa of 2006!

Autumn's Glory
This cake was entered in the Mid-Atlantic Cake Show in March. I'm very thrilled to say that I won the grand prize!! It's light chocolate fondant that's been sprayed with gold (more than I intended), and the flowers are gumpaste. The panels/bottom border combos are gumpaste. The cakes were separated about 1 1/2" before I put on the panels. The base cake board is 21"!! It's the largest cakes I've ever made for competition.

Dynasty
This cake was made for the OSSAS show when the theme was a wedding cake fit for a queen. I came in 5th. The symbols on the fan (to the left of the cake) mean "True Love" and I think the symbol on the cakes means "Eternity". I think I used about 5 containers of gold and a couple of bottles of Everclear to paint this cake. The liquor store people gave me some odd looks. :)
