Ive Wanted To Do A Modeling Chocolate Plaque Since Seeing It In An Ices Newsletter A Few Months Ago This Is My First Try I Used Candy Mel
I've wanted to do a modeling chocolate plaque since seeing it in an ICES newsletter a few months ago. This is my first try. I used candy melts, not real chocolate, and just worked with the colors I had. The cake is covered in fondant and the bead border is fondant. All the other decorations are the candy clay, with the exception of the dregees. It was very fun to try something new. PRCC...have at it! :)

Vintage Calico Appliqueed Tea Towel
This was one of my entries in the 2013 Sweet Times in the Rockies Cake Show. As you can tell, my inspiration was the tea towel. All the decor is 100% edible. I used a color wash to get the green background and overlayed fondant to get my calico prints. Everything was outlined in brown food color/vodka to look like stitching. I won 1st place in Advanced Division, Tiered Cakes Category. Picture by Erin Schaefgen Photography.

Fall Ombre
I was being filmed for a feature on one of our local news affiliates and needed a cake to be working on while they were here. Since it will air in early November I wanted fall colors. I made this 6" dummy cake with ombre ruffles and a fantasy flower in shades of the terra cotta. Not pictured...Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes with Brown Sugar SMBC to go with the fall theme. They made the house smell wonderful and allowed the reporter and cameraman to taste my work. TFL!

Twin Girl Cookies
These were inspired by siberina's cookies. They're being shipped from Colorado to Perth, Australia today to a friend who emigrated there a year and a half ago. Obviously, she and her hubby are expecting twin girls :). Cookies are basic vanilla sugar cookies, decorated with fondant and royal icing. TFL!

A Garden Party
This cake was for a themed party I hosted for a friend visiting from Europe. Cake is 9" and 6" with hot pink gumpaste dahlias in different sizes; it's lemon cake with strawberry buttercream covered in fondant. I was inspired by a cake picture that was in a thread in the forums here. The picture wasn't credited so I don't know who the cake designer is. I had already made the large dahlia, just didn't know what I wanted to do with it until I saw that cake. TFL! **UPDATE** Picture was from The Knot; baker no longer in business. Thanks, vpjane, for that info!**

What's Summer Without Cute Flip Flops?
To eat, that is! I made these for a party at a friend's house this weekend. Flip Flops are carved from a sheet of white caramel cake and filled with a layer each of salted caramel BC and rich fudge frosting. Except for the fondant and gumpaste, everything is from scratch, including the caramel sauce I used to flavor the buttercream. Fun cake and it was a bit hit at the party. TFL!

Froggie & Friends Themed Baby Shower
For one of my daughter's best friends. Based on the nursery decor. All the critters are fondant/gumpaste. The 9" tier is lemon raspberry swirl with raspberry buttercream and the 6" is sugar & spice cake with very vanilla buttercream. This cake was a HUGE hit at the shower.

Doggie Bone
I made this cake for my daughter to take to a potluck at work. She works at Petsmar. All her coworkers loved it and fought over taking the little "pets" home. Cake is made using a doggie bone shaped pan (that she got me) and decorated in fondant. The critters are based on the instructions in the book "Cake Characters". It's her favorite flavors; Swiss Mocha cake with hazelnut bc. It was so much fun. TFL!

Black & White & Ruffled All Over
The ombre effect on the bottom tier was achieved with 23 layers of ruffles in 11 shades ranging from pure white to pure black. All the ruffles, including the vertical ones on the middle tier were cut from fondant and ruffled with 2 sizes of ball tool and a veiner. Gumpaste fantasy flowers made with a piece of an orchid cutter set and outlined with with black gel color thinned with vodka using a tiny brush. I've been trying very hard to improve my picture taking and I'm starting to see the results of that, I think. TFL!

Hearts And Flowers
This was an entry in the 2012 Sweet Times in the Rockies Cake Show. I won 2nd Place in the Advanced Tiered Cakes category. It was a tongue-in-cheek, silly Valentine's Day Wedding Cake inspired by all the bright and fun Valentine's Day items in the seasonal aisle at the craft store, thus the overly bright reds and green. TFL!

A Bunch Of Spring Daffodils
This cake was inspired by the many here on CC. My mother's birthday cake. Daffodils are her favorite and her birthday is at the cusp of Spring so I thought this would be perfect for her. She loved it. Cake is 2 small tiers made up of 6" and 5" rounds, topped with a 1/2 ball and slightly carved inward to form the shape of the bouquet. All fondant decor w/ gumpaste daffodils. Cake is lemon with strawberry buttercream. TFL!

This was one of my entries in the Sweet Times in the Rockies Cke Show in Denver. The inspiration was my own wedding flowers from way back. I won 2nd place in the Advanced Celebration Cakes category. Cake is carved from the "form cake" recipe. Lace is fondant tinted with chocolate extract, all other decor hand made with fondant/gumpaste and/or royal icing. TFL!

An Elf House All Decked Out For Christmas!
My first gingerbread house! I've wanted to make one for years and thanks to the inspiration, advice, and ideas from the (very long) gingerbread house thread in the forums here I finally did it. I used the elf house pattern from gingerbreadbydesign.com. It's 100% edible and the only thing premade is the fondant and the ice cream cones that are the form for the trees. I had such fun and I'm so pleased with it. I do wish I had done windows, though. Next time. TFL!
