I have been asked to make a wedding cake and the brides wants different flowers on it.
How do I make these flowers:
Purple statice
yellow solidage
purple was flower
I can't find anything with how to on these flowers. Has anyone made or have an idea as to how I would make these.
Any help is greatly appreciated
Sue
I've seen real purple statice but have never even heard of those other two. Statice seems like it would be very hard to make with gum paste. Have you looked googled pics of the real flowers just to see what you're dealing with? Could you possibly talk the bride into some other choice? Sorry I can't help. Good luck.
For the statice I'd make the baby's breath in the appropriate shade of purple on very fine wire, then bind then together in groups to get the look of the statice.

For the yellow solidago I'd do pretty much the same, but squeese the flowers a bit more, and bind them in the correct formation to acheive the correct look:

As for the third one, do you mean "purple wax flower"? If so, you'd want a very small five petal cutter, and you'll want to cup the center quite deeply and put them on a very fine wire:

All in all, I'd say any one of those will be way more trouble than they're worth, and to do all three would drive me to drink. Personally, I'm with dawnybird. If you can't get your bride to go with something more reasonable, send her on her way. Unless of course she's willing to pay beaucoup bucks for your time and frustration.
First I'd do some research online and find some sugar artists who sell sugar flowers. You might be able to find what you're looking for and get a price from them. There's no shame in outsourcing flowers. Just add their price to the cost of the cake.
