Does anyone have tips on how to ice a #8 cake? I am talking about inside the round cutouts. It looks like it might be a pain.
Any suggestions?

Cake for an 8 year old, yes?............right off the top of my head, try using a butter knife, the type that comes with a silverware set.

She means a cake shaped like the number 8. Yep, it will be a pain - try the small offset spatula or do like I do and DON'T make a cutout - just a black fondant circle where the hole would be icon_smile.gif

Thanks, Yes I meant a cake shaped like number 8. What if I just want to use buttercream? Not fondant. will the black fondant for the holes look weird?

No, I don't think so. Here's one like that

We put borders around the "holes" since there were borders elsewhere, but I don't think it's necessary. Here's two without borders, but they're fondant finish (we REALLY try to sell fondant on shaped cakes icon_smile.gif)

Another bonus is you're not losing all that cake!
