Can i freeze baked cupcakes? And how to store them in freezer so they won't dry? Any idea? I need to make 3 dozen cupcakes for this weekend party. So I have to make them in advance since I need to cook lots of foods as well..
I wrap each cupcake in plastic wrap and then put them in a freezer bag. I can usually get 9-11 in a bag. Then I just pop them in the freezer until I need them. Thawing takes no time at all. By the time I get the last ones unwrapped, the first ones are ready to go.
I put all the cupcakes on a big baking sheet and cover the whole thing in serveral layers of plastic wrap. I've only frozen for a couple of days. Then take them out and let them defrost half an hour or so with wrap still intact, then unwrap and decorate.
I have placed cupcakes on a cookie sheet, freeze just unitl they want get compressed, then place in a zip lock bag. To defrost them place them in the refrigerator for awhile before opening the bag and exposing to room temperature.
I've also frozen cupcakes quite a few times and it's worked out fine. Just make sure you either put them into an airtight container or ziplock bag, or use lots of saran wrap! They will be fine
Thanks a looot
Now I feel safe to make them today and put them in freezer for this weekend
hello, thank you for all these tips...where do you buy the sarah wrap? and how long can they be frozen?
Saran wrap or plastic wrap can be bought at any grocery store or even dollar stores. I think frozen cupcakes stay good for at least a month... please correct me if I'm wrong
I usually put them in just an airtight container after they have completely cooled. If i have a container that has room for more than one layer than I put wax paper between the layers. I think that it peels off nicer. I would say a month or two. Not as long as a regular cake though.
Plastic wrap each one and put in zip -lock bag, I have left them for at least 3 weeks.
I let them cool completely. I store them about 9 in one freezer ziplock bag (gallon size). I was nervous the first time but they were so moist and fresh tasting when they thawed out. I could not tell they had been frozen! It was GREAT!
I find that my cupcakes seem to stay moist if I freeze them! Some of my recipes get dry on day 2, but if I freeze them they are delicious much longer! I just put them in a ziploc bag and freeze. However, the tops do get sticky which can be a bit of a pain depending on what sort of piping I'm doing.
Already made my cupcakes and freeze them this morning. will use them this weekend. Only 2 days from now but I want them to stay fresh. Thanks for the replies
I know I am a little late on seeign this but i have a cupcake courrier i think it is called. It is a big airtight plastic cupcake holder that holds 36 cupcakes. I put them in there, freeze and thaw when ready. They come out so moist!
