Dear Fellow cake Decorators
I just finished putting together a cake Matrix on Excel. It took me many months to put together so I am hoping this will help you save some time.

Download it on my website www.abccupcakes.net/matrix.html

Hope it helps!

Keep on caking!
-Julianne

I only played around with it for a couple minutes, but I could not figure out how to input multiple tiers for a wedding cake. Maybe I need to take a longer look.

Thanks for this Julianne. I took a look at it today and then spent most of the afternoon adding some tweaks. All in the goal to price out the 2 tiered blue cake in my gallery. I added an easy way to do up to 3 tiers and different flavors of cakes. $36 with organic fair trade chocolate, not too bad. I donated the cake, so it was all loss, but I got two other contracts from the donation so for. The total is still calculated with the multiplier factor like you did, but the math could easily be tweaked so you just enter a price per serving, then determine the profit (including labor). Anyway just thought I would share my changes since you were so kind to share the work you did.

Can it take into consideration specialty items such as gumpaste flowers and things like that?

Thank you so much for sharing!!! I've been looking for pricing information, and this just came at the perfect time. I've only been doing cakes for family and friends, but I've been asked to sell them, and had no idea where to start. Thank you!!!

I found a error in how the costs were summed...fixed, and added the carrot cake recipe I made last night (found here) with costs. I am still missing the price of a few ingredients, but my carrot cupcakes with cream cheese frosting was about $0.45 each in costs. Thanks again Julianne for starting this, I have been looking for a good way to do this for a while.

So, Jenna, did you update? Do I have to download again?

Thank you to both of you.

Ya, I just found the adding error and added a new recipe and some of the ingredients I used for it. Just download the link again, it should be filled out for 24 carrot cupcakes.

I would be interested in what people think of the table I made for the amounts of frosting and filling I made for the different cake sizes. Most of this was based on 1/4" of thickness, then based on some algebra converted to volume in cups.
