I was wondering if a buttercream cake can have the same quilt look of a fondant cake?
If so how would this be accomplished?
Thanks for any input.

This was a (crusting) buttercream cake. And I used an impression mat for it.

TexasSugar, where did you buy your impression mat? what brand is it? I've been looking for one. Thanks! icon_smile.gif

Thank you. I don't have an impression mat yet, still on my wish list.

Another thought, if you can pipe straight lines...

In this post I described a way to get a design on the cake. This would work for the quilting too. You'd just have to pipe very clean straight lines to have a pretty finished looking.

There are probably some past posts on this site that talk about using other things as well. I could see using a ruler to make the lines as well.
