I'm sure this has been discussed, but was wondering if anyone uses the cake boss software? If not how do you prefer to keep trackof invoices, sales etc...all new stuff to me..starting to get busy and I wasnt to be doing this right! Thanks a bunch!
I purchased it just last month and it was one of the best purchases that I've made. I definitely recommend it.
what is the software? what does it have?how much? where can u buy it?
Each time Cake Boss is typed in this thread it is highlighted blue. You can right click on it and it will take you to the software website. It is NOT made by Buddy Valestro (aka cake boss on TLC) it was created before the show was even thought of by a member here on CC who saw a need for a great software for home, hobby, and small business cakers (food makers)
I purchased it a couple of months ago. I had a pretty good system of order forms and stuff in place already, that I still use. I actually bought it to keep track of my client list. After hundreds of cakes, I found it hard to remember who got what, and what I charged them. It's been incredible for that. For beginners, it will also be useful to come up with a price list. I also really like the dashboard, which reminds me of all the cakes I need to be thinking about for the upcoming week. I'd reccommend it for sure.
We just used an Excel spreadsheet for putting together pricing when we started our business, and we use QuickBooks to store customer data, invoices, expenses, etc. The nice thing about QuickBooks is it automatically connects to TurboTax Business, so it took me about 15 minutes to do the corporate taxes this year.
If you're not handy with Excel and you won't be doing your own taxes, Cake Boss is a good bet. They have a money-back guarantee too, so if you don't like it you can get a refund.
I use it and I love it. I use this for 99% of my business info...I worked for me because everything was already built in. I am still learning different things that it does & completely amazed out how much it does. As I'm growing my business I have more uses for me. It's easy to load your info & the software computes everything for you. Also if your computer breaks You can re-download the software to another computer. And automatically searches for updates each time it loads. In case you can't tell I love it!
Couldn't run my small custom biz without it. But when my cupcake business opens I am going to have to upgrade to a full scale POS/Inventory program like Bakesmart or some other large scale program like that. Sigh, I do love my Cake Boss program however. And will probably still have it hanging around for custom orders that come direct to me from current clients.

did you see the post for the Free Artisan Bakery Software http://download.cnet.com/Artis.....96344.html
I was looking over it & it's has aspects that are great once your business starts growing and growing... there are some aspects I'm gonna start using now.
If you download it. Don't launch immediately...let it close and then reopen it...the username & password is boss then you can set & change it
It is out of the UK so not interested in it. I have to have a program that also comes with the POS system as well. YOu know the old addage: you get what you pay for. I would rather invest in a system that is proven than some random program from the UK that is free. But thanks.
I just got it a couple of weeks ago, So far I love it.
Just takes time to put in your information, I'm just starting up so, I will add my recipes as I go.
I'm trying to get a handle on the pricing matrix for myself.
But for a home biz... great.
Does any one have an opinion as to whether it would be worth buying a cheap PC to run Cake Boss? I use a Mac for everything else. It looks like the perfect program for starting out?
