I need a recipe for red velvet cake that is moist. I tried two recipes so far (one of which was Cake Boss's recipe) but they were not very moist. Could I be overbaking them? I do stick with the baking times in the recipes.
Anyways, I am looking for a tried and tested recipe.

Thanks
Dina

I've just been asked to make a red velvet cake. I've never made one before so I did a lot of searching here. This seems to be a very popular one from Cakeman Raven:

I switch between Cakeman Raven's recipe and Pink Cake Box's recipe (found on her blog, about halfway down on the right hand side). I love them both and can't decide which one I actually like better! I've tried tons of recipes and these two are the best I've tried.

I have used Macsmoms version of Red Velvet. It seemed to be the only one that has worked for me so far.

If you want to try a doctored mix recipe that gets rave reviews, here's mine:
