I am making a baby shower cake for my cousin. I want to make a pregnant belly cake that looks very realistic, but don't know how to go about doing so. Does anyone have any instructions that may help me? I need to make this cake for Saturday the 15th of January. TIA for any help.

I used the Wilton mini wonder molds for the breats and a 8 in round half ball pan. This comes in the Betty Crocker Bake N Fill cakepan set.You can use a 6 inch round half ball but the tummy looks too small and not proportionate for the breasts.Bake and crumbcoat.I covered the breasts first with flesh colored fondant and then I did the belly.Roll out a large piece of fondant and lay over belly...smooth to your liking..

Hi! I made a pregnancy cake last year! I didn't have the ball pans, so I used a plain old pyrex bowl and cut away to shape the belly a little better. I have a body pan, so I used that for the body, and I also have a "boob" pan. I can't seem to find my picture of it, but if I find it will post! Hope I helped.

I have made this cake several times. I too have the bake and fill pan (no longer available for purchase). I use the large dome for the belly and the smaller one for the chest. I had to cut the two smaller domes to make the chest smaller though. I recently bought another pan (small doll pan) to make the breasts but havent tried yet.

I have made the belly before with a 8"x3" round cake, because I thought the cake was for another day, I had to use what was already made. I had to round out the edges of the cake. I didnt like the way it looked since the belly was almost flat on top but becuase the edges were rounded nobody at the baby shower knew anything was wrong with it. I have also seen pictures from a local bakery who sells the belly like this one, flat on top and rounded on the edges.

I normally cut two pieces of fondant. One to cover both breast and one to cover the belly. It was esier for me to do this way than all at once. Then I add a belt/ribbon below the breast with or without bow.

Good luck and try to have fun

I hope to make one soon!

If i can share unsolicited advice...(my 2 cents) I think that it is nicer to just keep the breasts smooth no nips.

How tall is the Bake n fill round? Is it the same as the Soccer ball from Wilton? And is the insert same as Wilton sports ball pan?  I can't find any Bake n Fill measurements or cups of batter or anything so I can compare the two.
