Windsor Clikstix Letter Cutters - Examples
Decorating By Coral3 Updated 9 Dec 2012 , 4:54pm by mbark
Another CC member got me onto the Clikstix ejector alphabet cutters made by Windsor (can't think for the moment who it was, but it'll come to me later no doubt).
I have to say they are my new favourite alphabet cutters. I bought all the 'Groovy' sets (Upper case, lower case and the number set) and have had a chance to use them. They are vastly quicker and easier to use than Tappits.
Anyway to show you how the lettering looks on cake, here are some pics of a few simple Christmas cakes I used them on (These cakes were small - only 4 inch, to give an idea of size)
What I'm really hoping is that others have photos of cakes using the other font styles in the Clikstix range to post in this thread - I'm busting to see how they look on cake! (Not that I NEED more letter cutters, but I'm just itching for an excuse to buy the other sets! ) I'm sure there are other CC'ers who would love to see examples of their use too!
Anyway, here are the 'Groovy' examples for you:
NOTE: To get a photo to appear in your post, upload it first into Photobucket (or similar), then just copy and paste the image code (IMG code) straight into the text of your post. The photo will then display in the thread, after youve clicked submit. Getting a Photobucket account is easy and free, http://photobucket.com/
Flickr might also give an IMG code you can paste into a post Im not sure though (I dont use Flickr myself)
I have just ordered the script ones and can't wait for them to arrive as I hate the tappit script they are so fiddly.
Here's what the cutters look like:
Groovy uppper case set:
They have two layers of plastic. You cut the letters out by pressing down on the outer edges of the strip, then once cut just push the back in which ejects the whole row. They also make blossom, daisy, star and heart cutters in the same way, which cut out about twenty(?) or so of the shape in various sizes all at once:
The lower case script set:
Upper case script:
Block upper case:
Flickr might also give an IMG code you can paste into a post Im not sure though (I dont use Flickr myself)
You can get the IMG code from Flickr by going to the image you want to post, click on the 'Share this' button above the image, then 'Grab the HTML/BBCode' and change from HTML to BBCode - The code will then be displayed. You just need to copy/paste it into the post
I really like that style of lettering, I'll have to have a look to see if I can find it in the UK. I've only tried the tappits once... We did not get along...
Your cakes are lovely also.
Ooh I love those. I ordered the script ones but have yet to try them. Perhaps I'll play with them later today. If I do I'll try to remember to take some pics
Letters look great...but what I really love are your trees. Can you please tell me how you made them?
Oh! they are so pretty, I only have the stencils that you trace over (from wiltons) which I love but these are definitely nicer. I would love to find them in hebrew alphabet bc I do alot for hair cutting ceremony's (3year old boys) and I hand write the letters but do not have such a steady hand which I'm afraid shows. I'll try and upload a picture to illustrate what I mean:
Ok, can't manage it, I'll put it in my photo album.
I also bought the Clixsters and LOVE them - I only used my tappits a couple times then gave up on them - way more trouble than they are worth The Clixters are almost fool proof plus reasonably priced too
The trees are pretty simple, I used PME snowflake cutters:
They're not my idea, I saw the snowflake trees somewhere a few years ago although I can't remember where. The ones I saw were all white, but I thought I might try making some in green to see how they look. I quite like the green ones. I used lots of green disco glitter on them, so they were nice and sparkly in real life.

Ooh, yes - please do!
I swear, I searched and tried every combination and couldn't find them at Global, but yep - there they were!!! Thanks!!
For those who are in Australia I bought Clikstix at Cake Deco in Melbourne, although I have since discovered I can buy them off ebay from the UK for HALF what I paid, INCLUDING postage and exchange rates.

Noooo! Don't you hate it when you realise things like that
I did a quick google and in the UK they are available on the Windsor Cake Craft site and eBay and a few other online stores. Just going to order me some now....
Coral it was me. I love your cakes. They are beautiful.
Aha! Yes it was...I knew it was someone with a '4' in their name. I kept thinking All4Cake, but knew that wasn't quite it!
I've been wanting those from Global for awhile since I saw them in their newsletter, thanks for posting.
Just got mine today, (groovy set) can't wait to try them out! Thanks for all the great tips and info.
Thanks for the post...love the look of my Tappits, but they can be a bit of a headache at times!
I got mine and used them on the last cake I did. I love them!! Much easier to use!!!!
Can't find them at GSA. Does anyone know what they are listed under. I tried many variations in the search function, but can't find them.
I wish the letters came in smaller sizes because they do look like that would be so much easier to use than Tappits. Maybe they will come out with smaller ones if more people request them.
