Making Cake Pops.........having a blast! they are so easy, and soooo.....cute. Everyone loves them. So far, the best ones are Pumpkin Spice Cake mixed with Caramel Penuche frosting and dipped in white chocolate. I put them in holiday cupcake wrappers, and so far, the 2 dozen I've finished have been a big hit! icon_biggrin.gif

I've made about 20 pounds of chocolate bark, 4 different kinds, so far. Packaged up 20 and sent off to elementary school for teachers, staff. Tomorrow at 7am I'm having a neighbor over who also loves to bake and I'll teach her how to do candy molds and bark.

It was SO much fun! My first bark presents. I sang carols pretty much all day.

I piped coconut macaroons all day (for some corporate gift tin orders) until my arm is totally sore. Took the night off to have dinner at Macaroni Grill with the DH.

Thanks for the page, cheatize. Answered.

All I can say is thank my lucky stars that this "painting" I'm doing is a background on an "Elmo's world" cake. I draw like a three year old, so it's working out.

PS, I'm married to a fine artist (painter)/art history professor. He's gonna laugh his butt off when he sees this.

Another night making Christmas "sugar plums". Yesterday, I made up a bunch of stuff for gifts for my friends. Today and tomorrow I'll be making treats for my granddaughter's teachers and our (extended) family's Christmas celebration. I did/am doing mini-fruitcakes, individual brownies, marzipan figures, cake pops, bourbon balls and pecan-stuffed dates. I'd LOVE to do divinity and macaroons, but it's way too humid here. Oh, well!

I'm finally calling it quits for the night! I've been at it all day.

I've finished 2 cakes today and 6 dozen cut out cookies have been iced and decorated. I worked on some Shortbread cookies as well. Tomorrow I'll finish the other 14 dozen cut outs and bake a bazillion Molasses Cookies. I'm whipped and tomorrows deliver at 7:30am seems awful early now!

Well, come on down, Leah! We can cake all day and party all night! My group had its Christmas party last night and the things I took went over big. I purposely took bunches so they could take things home to their families, and I didn't have to beg anybody to do it!

I spent the day making sugar cookies, gingerbread cookies, chocolate and peanut butter fudges, buckeyes, stained glass candy, and Spritz. I still have to decorate the cookies but that will have to wait.

Does anyone know anything about karate? I have a cake to do next week in the shape of the uniform and I can't even think of the name of the uniform right now.

SUPER late drop in to say "hi". No cakes tonight. I have cupcakes to frost in the AM for my daughter's birthday party.

Pretty much brain-dead & numb after a week straight of make various candies & dipped treats for Christmas gift platters. Attempted to make divinity candy and caramels for the first time. I was partially successful w/the divinity, an epic fail on my first batch of caramels but succeeded on the next try with a different recipe.

Still up stupid-late tonight trying to get caught up on some laundry. We reached the no socks-no undies crisis. At least tomorrow night my mom is taking the kids so the DH & I can either go to a holiday party or out on a date.

Nite y'all
Kristy

Of course, here it is after I searched and didn't find it and finally posted a new thread. I'm having a fondant disaster and need some help!

I'm working with black fondant (used the "True black MMF recipe- first time...should never do that!!) and it keeps tearing. It feels almost wet, but not at the same time if that can even possibly make sense. It's not overly sticky, but it's crumbly. If I add any crisco it gets sticky to where it sticks on my hands. I can roll it out, but I can't lift it, and if I do get enough to lift, once I put it on the cake, before I've even finished setting it on top of the cake, the sides have torn off and it's left a round circle on top. I've tried making it thinner, making it thicker, adding corn syrup, adding ps adding crisco...I don't know what to do, and this is for my cousin's wedding tomorrow! Can anyone offer any suggestions to make this fondant work?!

I assume you've got it figured out now? Looks like we'll all packed it in for the night.

I always buy commercial fondant. It's consistent.

MJTKNT: At that point, I figure I've got too much coloring in there and it has "broken" the fondant.

jzingg: Thanks! The only word that came to mind was, "obi" and I knew that wasn't right.

Leah: You're welcome for pointing out the other post. The spelling was such that I wasn't sure you'd see it if you were just glancing through posts.

Well, there wasn't too much coloring in it. It was black, but it only had about 1/8 oz. of coloring in there. I finally got it on with a vinyl sheet, but it doesn't look as nice as I hoped it would. I'm pretty disappointed in it, and I probably won't make that recipe again. Disappointing- it has such good reviews.
