Hi All!
I have been reading about Buttercream Dream on this forum, but I can't pull up the recipe. Even under "Favorite Recipes" it shows up, but when I click on the link, nothing comes up, although the other recipes appear after clicking on the link.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Apparently, this has been happening with a number of different recipes lately. I was just on a thread where the recipe for "Cake Mix Extender" is also one of the ones lost in limbo somewhere. I think I read too that one of WASC recipes seems to be among the missing. Maybe it is just a glitch that will be resolved soon.
If you're desperate... I just made some Buttercream Dream this weekend so the recipe is in my head.
Ingredients:
1 stick unsalted butter
1 stick salted butter
1 cup shortening
3 tsp clear vanilla extract
2 lbs powdered sugar
5-6 Tbsp milk
Cream butters and shortening until well blended. Add vanilla. Add sugar. Mixture will be a bit stiff. Once that's blended, add milk and mix well. Very creamy and tastes great!
Good luck!
BakedAlaska...I have the recipe printed in front of me and that is it exactly! Great memory!! I made this for the first time last week and am in LOVE with it...super yummy!
Yay! Thanks for the confirmation Maria! And good luck to the OP. I'm sure they'll love it too... I've only just started using it myself. Definitely a keeper!
Thats funny, this is my standard bc recipe I got it from my b-i-l about 12 years ago. You can also make it chocolate by adding unsweetened baking cocoa, I love the new hershey's special dark cocoa powder. Anyway, never measured it, just add till its as dark as you like, you may need a bit more milk. I whip on high speed on my kitchenaid for about 5mins or so. This is my family's favorite.
I take it, that that is not Indydebi's buttercream dream recipe. I just looked, and her's did not have butter...only Crisco.
I now have 2 large mixing bowls worth of grainy matter. I beat the heck out of the shortening. Then, added the dream whip, and 1/2 the sugar. All was looking super. I slowly added the milk and extracts...still, looked silky smooth but loose. Slowly added the remaining sugar. SNAP! It turned into the grainy masses I now have. When I seen that, I allowed the mixer to beat it for still another 20+ minutes without any change. I added softened butter to it...nothing. I feel like the Grinch now...scratching my head and rubbing my chin trying to figure out the best way to go about a fix.
The recipe posted above includes a total of 2 cups of fat. The one I found in the recipe section is 1 1/3 cups of fat. I may just add even more fat to it.
