I was wondering if you have a folding delivery cart for cakes. I would like to purchase something that would fold up and go in the back seat of my Trail Blazer, then I could open it up and place those heavy cakes on it and roll them into the place of delivery rather than having to have my husband come along to carry them for me. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I could hardly wait to answer your query. I, too, have been looking for just such an item as I have no one to deliver but myself. Just last month I found a folding delivery cart available at c r e a t i v e c u t t e r s d o t c o m for $ 99.00 plus S&H. The item number is TCART if you enter it into the search box. I'm going to try to order one next month. Hubby can now relax. HTH

Whatever cart you find to buy, realize they usually don't give a ''cushioned'' ride
on pavement. On flooring I'm sure they would be great to have but do think
first of the pavement ride. (like a shopping cart ~ smooth in the store and jiggly
in the parking lot). Good luck and let us know how you make out with one!! icon_smile.gif

I have to agree with cakes47. I borrowed one of those heavy duty kitchen carts (with the heavy duty wheels) from a venue to roll the cake into the ballroom. I thought the pavement was not too bad, but when I started rolling it, I thought the buttercream was going to shake off my cake. You could possibly use it once you get inside the venue since the floors are smoother.

Goodness! I never thought of the "jiggle" issue. Of course, when I stop to think about the grocery cart analogy... Aw, just when I thought I had my problem solved. Perhaps it is just as well that I couldn't afford it yet. Thanks for the heads up.

Silly thought but....couldn't you add a piece of foam to the top of the cart to absorb some of the jiggles?

IndyDebi had mentioned which cart she used and recommended in an older threat quite awhile ago. I ordered the exact same cart that she used and I love it. I also have a TrailBlazer and it folds flat and fits perfectly either laying across the back seat or on the floor behind the front seats. You could PM her and ask her if she remembers the name of the website where she bought it from. I can't remember for the life of me. It has a white top surface, folds flat for storage, is super tough and durable and has a wire shelf to hold your fix-it kit, purse, etc. If I can find the original post that talks about it, I'll let you know.

I just did a quick search and found several around the 100 price point. This is something I've been thinking about as well. Most venues have service carts but then you have the ones that don't and unless I have one of my strong guys with me there's no way I could lift and carry a wedding cake by myself. So far I've had my guys so it's not be a huge worry and most of the time there have been carts available so I don't want to spend much for something I won't use all that often. Still considering....

I just found one at Hand Carts R US. It is the 8-way folding cart. Looks like something that would be useful because it has the table top to put your cake. HTH

Wow! I've never had this many replies to any of my posts! Thanks to all of you for the helpful information. I'll do some more homework. The only one I had found previously sold for $319.00 and that was really more than I wanted to invest. Thanks again. I really appreciate the suggestions.

I've been looking for something like that myself. Came across this one that looks interesting. Would suggest using a skid pad under the cake (like the stuff they sell it in the shelf-paper section).

Hey dhbaker,

That looks alot better than the one I found! I bet you could put handles on it to make it easier to manuver. Thanks,

This one is very similar to what I have. It converts to a flat bed. I had a large piece of plywood that I sat on the bed which gave me more surface space to put the cakes. Found mine at UPS for $59.

Hi, nhbaker,
I like the looks and simplicity of the cart, but my same issue remains: those polyurethane casters look like they would still transmit jarring vibrations to the cake which is now my concern since joining this thread. I have a small station wagon for delivery and wish the model indydebi suggests were a little lighter and more compact. I'll keep looking, I guess.
